Art: It Sure Is Frustrating...

When the prices of art supplies go up and the income flow is still the same.  Something's gotta change.

Art: Submitted NYFA Application

I get so anxious every time a BIG grant application is due.  I honestly don't know why, because when I sit down, focus and do it, I generally have all the materials I need to get it done.  So why do I get so anxious?

Well, I am proud to say that I submitted my NYFA application for the first time!  It was great and the award would be extremely helpful to my art career.  $7000!   Would you know at the end of the application, I had an opportunity to enter another contest for a $20,000 grant?!?!  It would be awesome to win that too.  Let's face it, in the current economy we're in, people are not buying art the way they used to.  At least not my art.  I admit, I got a little spoiled for that year that my art was selling.  Now I have a studio full of work that I can't sell.  At least for now, anyways.  Well, I hope the economy gets better and people start buying art again.  Maybe we'll all get lucky and people will buy art as gifts this holiday season :)

Tech: Read My Feed

Last week I started using Google Reader.  It helps me organize my RSS Feeds, which saves me time in reading website content I frequently visit in plain text.  I am attempting to balance art opportunities, technology, business & personal interest feeds, which I share on Facebook & here.  If you are interested in learning about art opportunities & some technology, I encourage you to subscribe to my feed.  I publish almost daily, but I promise I won't send you personal interest stuff.  :)

Tech: Am I a Powerseller or not?

This new "Top Rated Seller" program is unfair for all the people who struggle and work hard in selling their items on eBay, become Powersellers and don't get the recognition.  Yeah eBay, thanks for allowing us to be in the program, but if the buyers can't see the Powerseller icon, then what's the point?  We have to get a ridiculous amount of feedback in order to rank in the Top Seller circle.  And of course you, eBay, make it hard for us to reach that circle because you want to push the sellers to be the best that they can be.  I get it.  But what about those sellers that only receive 5 sales a week, if that & don't receive feedback from lazy buyers.  Then what?

Art: Creating Outside the Studio

I have,.t been in the studio in awhile, but I'm still creating. I've
decided to redo my art site and using Google Sites to create it.
Reasons:
- I'll be able to design it the way I want
- add advertising in an attempt to make some extra money
- connect my numerous sites to it with Google's easy plugin features
